Lobster legacy in Höfn.

Time: First weekend in July every year.

The locals in Höfn, a small fishing town located at the border of Vatnajökull National Park, have celebrated the lobster festival every year since 1993. Organizations, companies, individuals, restaurants and shops have joined forces to make the festival an unforgettable event. 

Lobster has always been of great importance for the population in Höfn and the town is famous for its lobster fisheries and is often called the lobster capital of the north.

The first weekend in July everything is about lobster.  The restaurants serve gourmet lobster dishes and street vendors sell all kinds of small takeaway lobster treats to be enjoyed while walking or sitting by the waterfront.

There is something to do for everyone such as, lectures about lobster for the grown-ups, music programs and dancing, art exhibitions, flee market and a playground for the young ones.
