Area involved:

Extends from Lómagnúpur mountain in the west to Hvalnes peninsula in the east

Includes all of Hornafjörður municipality
Is basically the region south of Vatnajökull glacier
The Lónsöræfi wilderness stretches northwards, past municipal boundaries
Vatnajökull National Park
Cooperation with Djúpivogur municipality to initiate projects and develop products
Member of South Iceland Marketing

Purposes:

Marketing the region, with an emphasis on winter
Developing products, conducting projects
Building and improving infrastructure
Producing promotional material
Receiving tour wholesalers and journalists from television and other media
Encouraging cooperation and unity within the cluster

Objectives:

Increase efficiency in the tourist industry, along with financial outcome and profitability
Shorten low seasons in local tourism
Lengthen tourist stays
Add to the number of year-round positions in local tourism
Market the local food and tourist industry under a single trademark

Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson – photographer

Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson ( b. 1958 ) is a professional photographer, educated in Sweden and Iceland. He started as a news photographer in 1975, but in 1985 created his own studio and graphics company. Ragnar's portfolio covers a broad range of work, including studio advertising photography, illustrations of travel publications, annual reports and coverage of official arrangements.

He has, for example, covered many events arranged by the Export Council of Iceland, the Scientific Council of Iceland and the President of Iceland as well as numerous banks, corporations and institutions. He has provided illustrations for a number of books, calendars and magazines.
