Fishing and shooting

Southwest Iceland, although not known for it's salmon fishing, still has some good salmon rivers. The best known is Laxá in Nes (translation: laxá=salmon river!). Some fine arctic char and trout can also be found in some of the area's lakes and streams, such as Lake Þveit. More information available here

There are many reindeer in Southeast Iceland, but you need a special permit to shoot reindeer in Iceland. More information is available here hreindyr.is and www.veidistjorn@ust.is

Many farmer's fields in the region are crowded with goose in the autumn and some farmers give permission for shooting on their land.
